OK, I ran into Mark Stansfield at Fred Harrington's daughter's wedding Saturday. Mark reminded me to send in my $30 for the reunion party. I knew it was some time in October, but had forgetten it is OCTOBER 11.
Ok, will send in my $30 today, and I will be there.
In the meantime, classmates, here is a possible halloween chuckle for you....my own country ballad, touching on the age-old story that never changes, of love between a man and a beautiful zombie:
John
Here it is hope you enjoy the edgy attempt at humor: : is:
Just sending out a Thank You to everyone who helped organize the reunion, and of course Ken for hosting the wonderful event again. Thanks especially to Sue for leading the charge - and also to those who traveled a distance to join the fun!
What a lot of fun at last nights reunion!!!! It was so nice to see everyone. Thank you to Sue for all her hard work to make this reunion happen and anyone else who helped!!!!Also thanks to Ken for having it at the dealership again this year!! Until the next one.....?
What remarkale group you are, class of 1974. It was short, rich visit at the reunion. What a lot of humor in that room, and a lot of kindness in your natures.
Thank you to Sue and EVERYONE who made the night so special!!!!! It was great seeing everyone and what a fun place to have a reunion - thank you, Kenny! Can't wait to see the pictures! Sarah Hart Koeniger
Thanks to every one who pulled our reunion together.Good time, Good friends. A few more pounds, a few more gray hairs, but we can still party like teenagers!!!!
Just wanted to add my thanks to the reunion team especially my cousin Sue Menzel Johnson and Ken Papa for all their efforts. Great to see everyone. Lots of laughs, my bet is Randy will be wearing those shirts again in 5 years. So jealous!!
It was my pleasure to provide the location for our class reunion. Thanks to Sue Johnson for taking on the task as our interim write in head of class, Randy and Joanne Romitelli for the beer, Mark Stanfield and Michael Pellitier for the booze and Jon Bornholm whom I am told provided the commemortatve koozies for the group. Lots of new faces, lots of stories, and lots for fond memories from the past and from this party. I had a great time and I sincerely hope that everyone else did too. See you all again in 5 years or sooner. You can always reach me through the dealership as I will continue to shuttle between CT and Fl. Good health to everyone...Ken
Thanks to all for a delightful evening. So glad that I could come and reconnect with all of you. Thanks to the awesome organizing team and Kenny for offering his wonderful space. I think we just get better with age...... and we are definitely cooler! Can't wait until next time. Stay well!
The class of '74 rocks - always has and always will! I'd like to add my thanks to all those responsible for a memorable night. I was pretty shy in high school, so I love that I can finally talk freely with my classmates! The pizza was a good idea - we weren't primarily there to eat anyway! We will always be connected by our past at FHS, and the older I get, the more I appreciate those memories. (Hopefully, new memories will continue to accrue!) Peace to all.
After much discussion with several classmates about a 50th reunion it is looking like a timeframe of Sept. 28th, 29th or Oct. 5th 6th, 2024. Indigenous Peoples Day is Oct 14th next year.
We have a few good ideas milling about. One is working out a school tour of the new high school, maybe middle school, some elementary schools. Simsbury High rented a school bus and drove around.
The class of 1972 had a noshing three hours at Wood n Tap with an hour of veggies, dip, cheese, crackers, then two hours of quesadillas, flat breads, bacon wrapped scallops, etc. A cash bar. Cost $45 per person.
The class of '71 had a Sunday afternoon at Wood n Tap under a tent and people bought their own food and drink and a class of 71 put together band played. All by the Farmington River. Their sit down dinner with a mentalist was paid for by a fellow classmate. They had a golf outing, but only 4 classmates played. Friday night they had an informal get together at a classmates house.
We need a chairman, we need a committee.. just trying to set dates and gather ideas right now.
Yes, John - I have been to the senior center with my mom and thought the same thing - a lovely facility. Don't know if it is large enough for a 50th reunion though.
I've lived in GA since 1984 but my heart is still with the class of Farmington of 1974 and I'm happy to do what I can. I don't know what I can do from GA but I will do what I can. I had a great time at our last reunion and I stayed with Randy and Joanne Romitelli. I also had great conversations with fellow classmates Emily and Abby and it that is what makes it worth the effort to attend. I would like to be invovled to whatever degree I can with planning our 50th reunion. On I side note, I will not join Facebook or any other social medium, I prefer emails but why not use this platform to communicate?
Hello to all, hope all,is well. You can count me in. I am always willing to help out once a committee is formed to move the 50th reunion into a reality. Sold the dealership so I cannot offer space, but the senior center sounds good. Judging from the 30th (4 years late). I would hope for 50-75 attending. Let me know where I can pitch in.
ps: I too do not use participate in social media. You can always email me at kjpiroc@aol.com.
Hello classmates I would be able to assist in planning or logistics. FYI the FHS class of 1973 had their reunion at the Knights of Columbus with about 100 in attendance. You can email me at markstansfield@comcast.net or call my cell 860-402-7569
We are kicking off plans for our 50th Reunion this year. Join us for a Zoom call on Thursday, January 11 at 7:00 pm Eastern time. Help us find as many classmates as we can.
